The General Direction of Creative Industries of the Buenos Aires City Government presents the CMD Award, a recognition to the work of professionals in the design sector that highlights its role in the economy and emphasizes its value as an indispensable factor for innovation.

This year, the number of CMD Award entries tripled. Architects and designers, companies and studios were presented to participate in the five new categories: fashion, communication, space, multimedia and product. The projects were evaluated by a prominent jury composed of Hugo Kogan, Daniel Wolkowicz, Lulu Biaus, Analía Cervini, Paulo Santonocito, Vero Ivaldi, Julio Oropel and María Sánchez.

The evaluation committee selected tridimage with its Cofler Blockazo design project for Arcor, considering the degree of innovation, quality and design strategy of the project.

“Blockazo is a different experience, turning a chocolate into an object of desire. The usual two-dimensional squares were transformed into uncontracted prisms, achieving a three-dimensional optical illusion, fun and dynamic.”

The CMD Award seeks to detect and position the best projects and communicate the impact of design on cultural, social and economic development. The competition is divided into five categories: Communication, Multimedia, Product, Spaces and Fashion.

The 30 selected projects will participate in the CMD Award exhibition, will be included in the printed and digital edition of the catalogue and will be part of a business round with international investors that will take place during the International Design Festival organized by the City.

The evaluation committee will determine a finalist by category. Each one of them will receive an economic recognition and among the five finalists will be selected a Grand Prize Winner CMD that will be awarded an additional economic recognition and a place in the program Despega Talento 2018 of the Agency for Promotion of Investment and Foreign Trade, with the intention of conducting a trade mission to the destination that will be considered enhance the internationalization of the project.

The awards ceremony, the launch of the CMD Award catalogue and the opening of the CMD Award exhibition will take place on 23 November at the Metropolitan Design Centre in the framework of the 11th CMD Conference.
